ABOUT RECENTLY LAUNCHED PROJECT

logoOn June 27, 2013, the Public Establishment the Kaunas Religious Music Centre (hereinafter – KRMC) has launched implementation of a project titled Improvement of performance and maximizing the potential of Kaunas Religious Music Centre.

The project has been funded by the Lithuanian and Swiss Cooperation Programme.

The long-term goal of the project is development of the favourable institutional environment for stable activity of the organization.

The short-term goals of the project are as follows:

–          Strengthening institutional capacities of the KRMC enabling it efficient management, development and administration of cultural and other activities to meet the society‘s needs;

–          Increasing KRMC reputation, first of all in the city of Kaunas, the region and in the country.

Tasks of the project are as follows:

–          To increase human and institutional capacities of the staff of cultural non-governmental organizations operating in Kaunas region;

–          To increase KRMC reputation in Lithuania and abroad;

–          To increase the material basis of the organization.

 

Activities of the project include the following ones:

  1. Increasing the material basis of KRMC. We are planning to by the following pieces of equipment: video camera, stand, multimedia and a screen, one laptop computer, and a printer.
  2. For publicity of KRMC we have already developed an information poster of the Project
  3. Currently webpage of the KRMC has been improved. We will upgrade the website‘s technological capacities and will develop adequate updated information. By the end of the In the course of the project some information about the KRCM and the concerned Project will be available in English and German languages.
  4. A brochure will be produced. Adequate information about Kaunas region cultural non-governmental organizations and the KRMC will be presented in the brochure.
  5. Training for cultural NGOs operating in Kaunas region, and development of a strategic plan for the implementer of the Project – the KRMC. Training will cover the following issues:

Topic “NGO management”. The goal of the training is to present the major aspects of the management of NGOs by presenting to the participants some theoretical knowledge, and best practical examples of successfully manages NGOs. During the training session the following issues will be discussed: mission and vision of the organization, role of the governing board and some major features of the construction of the board, the role of the head of an organization, leadership, decision-making, staff management, working in the team, human resources management, work planning, information sharing, implementation of programmes, etc. Duration of the training – 1 day (10 academic hours).

Topic – „Measures for NGO financial sustainability“. The goal of this training is to present participants with major measures or tools enabling NGOs to become financially independent. During the training session the following issues will be discussed: fund-raising, generating funds, provision of services, social business, social enterprise, endowment, private foundations, reserve funds, government funding, etc. We will also discuss human resources needed for application of the measures, the importance of transparency and efficiency means for an organization when seeking funding and/or donors. Duration of the training – 1 day (10 academic hours).

Topic – „Advocacy“.  The goal of this training is to present some theoretical knowledge and practical skills for professional advocacy by NGOs. During the training session the following issues will be discussed: advocacy and participation in public policy-making, efficient advocacy skills, development of advocacy campaigns, development of coalitions, conflicts and their resolution during campaigns, examples of efficient Lithuanian advocacy NGOs. During the training some practical examples of successful Lithuanian and foreign advocacy work will be presented. Duration of the training – 1 day (10 academic hours).

Topic – „The importance of implementation of the principle of equal opportunities“. The goal of this training is to present and to discuss with participants of the training the practical aspects of implementation of equal opportunities in Lithuania and abroad. During the training the following issues will be covered: definition of equal opportunities and essence of the principle of equal opportunities, goals of the EU policy of equal opportunities, solution of issues of equal opportunities in Lithuania, factors motivating solving equality problems, equality issues related with the Civil Code, reasons and obstacles for nonconformity of the principle of equal opportunities, major tools for achievement of equal opportunities, etc. Duration of the training – 1 day (10 academic hours).

Topic – „Development of a long-term strategy of an organization“. The goal of this training is to develop the organisation’s strategic plan by discussing theory, and by doing practical exercises to develop a concrete strategic plan for KRMC. The following issues will be discussed during the seminar: the importance of strategic decision, development of a mission of the organisation; development of the vision of the organization; mission alignment with the vision. During the seminar the lector will help the participants to do a PEST analysis, analysis of internal factor, SWOT analysis, to develop strategic goals, tasks of activities, and their priorities. Evaluation and criteria for implementation of the strategic plan will also be discussed:  effect, results, and product criteria. Duration of the training – 2 days (20 academic hours).
